Rushmore Avenue students break a book drive record — Huntington Schools news

From Oct. 5-9, Carle Place’s Rushmore Avenue School held its annual book drive for Book Fairies, collecting a record 28 boxes of books. The drive was organized by the school’s library media specialist, Marni Nelson. Book Fairies is a nonprofit organization that supports individuals in under-resourced communities across Long Island and New York City by distributing new and gently used books. Fifth graders Millie Gilroy, Thomas Hess, Alivia Stasi and Wexford Tittler helped move the boxes in preparation for pickup. The district thanked everyone who donated books and helped make the drive a success.
